Pastor Nominating Committee Update
January 22, 2026
First Presbyterian Church, Eufaula
Your Pastor Nominating Committee continues its work with faithful diligence and trust in God’s leading. The committee meets weekly—and more often as needed—to research potential candidates, pursue leads, consult with multiple ministers and presbyteries and contacts, communicate with our denominational seminary partners, conduct electronic match searches, and, when appropriate, engage in conversations with potential candidates.
While we have spoken with and interviewed several candidates over the past two years, the “right pastoral fit” for our congregation has not yet been discerned. With the permission of the Session and the Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry, we amended our Ministry Discernment Profile in 2025 to allow greater flexibility in our search, enabling us to consider a full-time installed pastor or a part-time installed pastor.
As we continue forward on our path, we are deeply grateful for your continued prayers and we ask that you commit dedicated prayer time each day for this process. We remain faithful to this most important call that you have entrusted to us and we remain committed to prayerful perseverance in Christ’s service.
“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” - Jeremiah 29:11
As always, please feel free to speak with any PNC member with questions or suggestions. Aside from your commitment to faithful daily prayer for our search, we also ask that you help spread the word among your friends, relatives and contacts with other congregations—expanding our network is an integral part of this search. Our Ministry Discernment Profile is always available online at the top of our webpage and also on the denominational CLC website.
Thank you for your trust, prayers, encouragement and support.
“Let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
